“’You should get a bike. It will change your life,’ my friend Nick said. I heard this over and over again like a nagging brake pad rubbing on the one wobbly spot on a dented wheel,” writes Colorado-based writer Brendan Leonard. Leonard wasn’t a believer until his friend showed up his doorstep with a gift – a 1989 red Trek bicycle. As he began riding, Leonard found his life falling into the smooth order of a finely tuned bike. To find a center, some people practice Yoga. Others meditate. All Leonard needs is a dark road and no particular destination. As he says, “There is rhythm and with the rhythm comes a clear line of thought.” Direct download: The_Shorts_--_Friendship_is_a_Used_Bicycle.mp3 Category:podcasts -- posted at: 5:21 AM Comments[13]

Wow. This story pretty much sums up the last few months with my Dad. I fixed up his old Univega, and he purchased a new bike. Now we ride together at least once a week (pretty good for a 14 year old and a 44 year old) and we are both in great shape. I love biking so much. In fact, that\'s where I\'m going now.
Awesome! Leonard, great description of the sweet biking scene around here. I too hit 35 mph on 23rd Ave a few weeks back, kickin it into downtown. Nothing like a good \"my eyes are almost frozen\" downhill run from the highlands to the river in crisp mile high air! Thanks guys.
