Today, we bring you the Crusade, the story of two stockbrokers, an engineer and a nuclear physicist who, with a little help from the Internet, helped shaped American ski mountaineering without ever leaving their backyard. There will be no helicopters. No corporate expeditions. No photo shoots. Just a decade-long odyssey from the ambitious imagination of youth across the Cascades' steepest faces all the way to the unsettled wisdom of adulthood. It turns out weekend warriors are just as capable. The photo and video enhanced version will be out shortly. - I had to listen to this one a couple of times as well. These are great personalities and interesting people. For me, still in college, it was good to see this example of weekend warriors mountaineering in \"hairy\" stuff and not just professionals and people living out of the backs of trucks. \"They shattered the perception\". It was very reassuring and inspiring for me. I\'m in Austria studying abroad right now and I\'m looking forward to exploring the area... on the weekends.
- I\'m sorry that I\'m just getting around to commenting on this now. After the 10th time I\'ve listened to it. Focused lives and fantastic stories. I take pride in living it up close to home too. I\'ve been to White\'s Pass and the Goat Rocks. Man, I wish that was my back yard. Last thing, being a newish dad, you guys have really turned me onto the idea of seizing the weekends for the benefit of my kids.
- Great podcast! Listening to The Crusade reminded me of my friends who try to expand the sport of BASE jumping while working day jobs and saving money for trips. These are guy who explore not only what they can jump but also what might be jumpable from sketchy buildings in downtown areas to high Himalayan peaks. Passion, drive and a need for adventure also fuel explorative BASE jumpers much like ski mountaineers.
